Nuova Faor SF501 Nitro Bike

This is the Nuova Faor SF501 Nitro bike. Retail price for this kit is about $450.00 for the kit. But you will also need a radio, reciever, Servo's, Battery Pack, Gas, Glow Plugs and so forth. Buying this kit with everything you need to make it run, will run you about $800.00 or so. I highly suggest buying the electric bike and giving that a try before investing a ton of money and finding out, your a little over your head.. The bike comes in a box and must be assembled. Assembly time is roughly 2 days and I'll admit the parts are great, however the instructions can use some work. If you take your time and assemble the kit correctly; it runs fantastic. Unfortunately, this is not a beginners kit and having a little knowledge about R/C cars, boats, will help. This is my bike below with a Novarossi .12 SG pull start.

The SF501 has full working front shocks and single sided swing arm.

I have heard that many people who build this bike love it, but the first time it can be difficult to dial in the engine. Many people suggest burning in the engine on a table before installing the engine into the bike. Well, I installed the engine without testing mine first and it did take quite sometime to get the engine running, which was mainly due to wrong air fuel ratio.

Below are a few pictures of the almost ready-to-run SF501. Nova Faor has released a ready to run bike, which just needs the servo’s installed to run. As you might have noticed there have been a few changes made to this bike. First, the gas tank is now plastic, the rear sprocket is plastic along with the main drive gear. Not to mention the front brake pad is also plastic. After building one bike I decided to go with the pre-assembled version as my secondary bike. Eventually, I will be replacing the plastic parts for aluminum as needed.

SF501: FULL RACE BIKE

The photos above are of the SF501 Race Bike. The race bike has all the hopped-up parts that do not come with the stock SF501. Most of the plastic parts are now replaced with Aluminum and/or steel. This bike is designed for the serious racer and the new rotor start is also included with this model.

Some things you need to watch out for when assembling this bike is to use the lock tight when the manual suggests it. Without lock tight the screws will fly out the first time you run the bike and this means you'll be ordering parts, but if you take care when assembling this kit, the less parts you will need to replace.

Important Note: You might notice a loud whining sound when you run the bike for the first few times, which is due to the drive gears being so tight. I’ve asked around about this and it is normal so don’t worry about it, eventually it will go away sooner or later, when the gears start to loosen up. You can purchase a motor mount adjustment bracket, but you really don’t need them so just give it time.

Another note: This is reguarding the Novarossi engine, the stock plug that comes with the engine will drive you crazy trying to get it started! The first thing you should do before even trying to start the bike is replace the novarossi plug with an O/S A3 plug. They run about 5 bucks each, but you’ll be running the bike in no time. Trust me, don’t fight the engine, change the plug!

Here are some CAD drawings for the SF501 if you need help assembling the bike. Unfortunately, the stock drawings leave much to be desired. If you wish to download the CAD drawings for your computer?
